FFX-2 ... thoughts/impressions?

picked this up first thing yesterday, as i've been anticipating it for a LONG time! also picked up the limited edition strategy guide.

the strategy guide is nice if you are a collector. it comes in a white plastic case type thing, with not only the strategy guide (with a collector cover that doesnt have any words on it), but also, an artbook with characters/artwork from FFX-2 *and* FFX.

the nice thing about the guide is that it shows you the 100% completion chart. i plan on playing it once through on my own, then using the new game feature to play it again with 100% completion (with help from the guide).. cause i want the perfect ending!!

ive only played the game for 2-3 hours so far, but im hooked. at first the game looked really girlie.. and it definitely has a different atmosphere than other FF games. the intro is REALLY cheesy/girlie, bear that in mind. pop concerts, and introductions to the characters with almost charlie's angel type freeze screens (with names). hard to explain, but youll know what i mean.

the same beautiful CGI, and slightly better "normal" graphics, especially with faces. the dubbing is MUCH better, none of that moving mouth shit when they arent talking all the time.

essentially so far, it seems this game is 100% side quests. i like that, cause i like side quests. you can explore anywhere right off the bat, and find tons of side quests! (though they count as "missions", which goes towards your 100% completion time).

i like the game also... sphere break. it uses 9 coins with different numbers on them, and a middle coin with a number. you want to get a combination of the 9 coins (their values) to add up to a multiple of the middle coin. then you can win items, coins, and more. i havent had a chance to play it yet, only practice... but it seems very fun and i didnt like the card game much anyways.

all in all, im excited to keep playing it. just do note that it does have a different feel than FFX... the FF end fight music isnt there anymore, and in general, the game has a pop-culture type shroud that might scare off some of the hardcore gamers (but not me!)

anyone else have likes or dislikes? please try not to spoil, even early areas in the game..cause it just came out

alright, here's one important thing to mention:

USE THE STRATEGY GUIDE to figure out which areas have things for you to do.

i thought it would be a good idea to not do this, and to go through every area, from beginning to end. (including places like mt. gagazet which are LONG and have a shitload of enemies). thus, ive spent about 10 hours so far just on CHAPTER 1, because ive leveled a million times in all these areas that i then found out, have nothing i can do.

leveling is fun, yes, but its starting to make me annoyed with the game.

so! i suggest even if you dont read WHAT you can do in the areas, at least look and see which areas even have things for you to do, so you dont get stuck leveling a bagillion times and start getting bored

Alright it finally loaded last night, and I do like the game. The whole Charlie's Angels theme is waaaaay overdone though. The dress sphere system is a good idea. So far all I don't like is the fact it'll only be those 3 for the long haul, you have no option of who can play.

I love revisiting the story from 10 though, they extended from it pretty well.

At first I thought that FFX2 sucked but after I got over the fact that it is not FFX it became a really great game.

Just finished the game at 90%, but I might play it again to get the full 100%. I wanna see what happens after the "good" ending, but still I thought the story and game were great.

Bosses were a little too easy though, with a couple of dark knights and an alchemist you can basically put it on cruise control through any of the end fights and never come close to dying. Still, it's not as bad as how hard you could wail on the bosses if you were built up in 10.

Haven't played it yet, but my sister is. Glad she is so I don't have to see her face nearly as much now

I am currently in Chapter 3 with 54% complete. I can't continue much fyrther because my disk got scratched somehow (me banging the crap out of PS2 when the game doesn't load). I want to finish it soon, before I get a job at least. Hey pagoda if you didn't sell it already, think I could borrrow it so i can beat it.

Give me a call Niggs, you got my number!

Anyways, can't you just exchange it for another one since it's defective?
