Becker's Naevus?! Only found out I had it a few weeks ago after having it for years! Its like a birth mark which only becomes apparent when you are about 13/14. Was gutted to hear that there is no cure for it Laser treatment could reduce the effects... heres hoping!

I read that it occurs in 1 in every 200 males, anyone else have this shit?!

A Becker's naevus is a late-onset birthmark occurring mostly in males. It is due to an overgrowth of the epidermis (upper layers of the skin), pigment cells (melanocytes) and hair follicles. It develops during childhood or adolescence on the shoulders or upper trunk, occasionally elsewhere.

It is also known as Becker melanosis.

It is thought that it may be triggered to develop by circulating androgens (male hormones such as testosterone), which is why it appears in males at puberty."

Yeah I have a birthmark thats about half the size of a post-it note (couldnt find any better measurement) on my upper arm. I remember when I was little it was smaller, but it grew over time. It's not hairy though, or at least not any more hairy than the rest of my arm.

Are there any bad sides about it? Skin cancer or something? I'd sure like to know if there were.....I just thought it was an innocent oversized birthmark.

Edit: after seeing some pictures online, I think what I have is just an oversized birthmark, because mine looks nowhere near what those pictures look like, or are as hairy. That shit looks scary man (sorry)

Yeah, its on my lower back, on my left hand side. Its not nice for people to see! But I have seen pics on other sites and it isnt actually as bad as them, Im only 17 mind you

Yeah I just turned 18. But I noticed that the birthmark was growing a couple of years ago. Anyway, hope you can find a way to cure it or stop it from growing any further.

i got a small mark on my neck that has a few big hairs growing out of it... nothign big or nething tho
