I would say go for it, it is a very good price and these decks will do exactly the same as most in a much higher price range. Sure the torque isn't great, but for spinning trance you really dont need all that much.
If you like it dj'ing you can keen on saving while you run these gemini's into the ground, if not you havent lost much. Personally i think they would be ideal to learn on, and you'll find when/if you upgrade you'll improve. The only problem being you might find it a bit dissheartening learning on worse decks as you'll find yourself touching the platter more to keep the pitch and to compensate for the slower start the split second after you release the record, but its all good practise.
Besides Gemini products have never failed me (i have the PT-2100's).
