I think "contributed" would be the most appropriate.

It's hard to say. For sheer volume I would say Holland. But the UK and Germany are heavy competitors. Where would trance be these days without Oakie or PVD? who knows...
Even Ibiza for that matter (which would mean Spain) as far as development goes...
