General Anaesthetic

Anyone had a general anaesthetic for dental work before? What’s it like?

um, well havent had it for dental work, but for when i broke my finger I did, but I obviously dont remember much. I think they put one drug into me that made me sleepy, dont remember how that affected me, then a pain killer one ( i think ) which they said would basically be like getting really drunk. Then the ceiling started moving in circles and that was it til I woke up. I'd heard scare stories of how it was dangerous and stuff, but I didnt even have a headache. So you should be ok.

I’ve had one too, about 7 years ago when I had my tonsils out. But I was just wondering if the one for the dentist would be any different.

I got it before for dental work when i was a wee nipper, cant remeber much about it though, on another note my dentist also got sacked for sexual abuse

if you've ever done ket tell them, it builds a resistance up to general anaesthetic

When i was getting teeth taken out some years back, the dentist injected my gum with this stuff, then about 2 mins later the lower half of my face felt like a baloon, they then took my teeth out and i didnt feel much (but got to hear the great noises of a tooth being pulled out from your jaw/gum *crunch* )

It wore off a few hours later and my gums hurt like fuck.

i dont really see the point in a general anaesthetic for having teeth out. not only are there risks involved with any general, you also usually feel really shit afterwards. many dentists are also very shit at doing it as they are not fully fledged anaesthetists, and thus ppl have actually never woken up..

waste of time/effort, if you can deal with dribbling for a few hours then just have a local

yep.

local anaesthtic only affects the closely surrounding area of the injection, whilst a general anaesthetic knocks you completely out by acting on the central nervous system

didnt they stop letting dentists use general anesthetic as too many people never woke up from having their teeth taken out coz the dentists wernt trained to use it properly.
