i'd recommend virtualdubMOD
it handles VBR audio streams, whereas virtualdub will re-encode the audio stream from VBR to CBR (which knocks the a-v sync completely outta wack).

oh yeh, i burnt 717MB onto a cd-rw just before so give it a go 
nero will pop up the box where it'll tell ya that it has to finalize the disc, just click ok and you should be on your way.
although with overburn, nero does have this warning that the disc might not work at all, so its best to play around with an rewriteable first, unless you're a fan of cd coasters

Just open the file up in windows movie maker, and it will automatically cut each individual take/roll (a take/roll is usually defined as a segement of the movie that's seperated by blackspace) into a seperate file. Not all takes/rolls in a movie are usefull, so you can elect to cut them out out, trim them etc. You could probably just cut the credits and you would have your 5Mb difference
