I found whats missing from Trance

I was just thinking, I been looking into a bunch of threads and there was alot of bashing going on about producers not producing tracks like they used to, I've come to the conclusion its 1 of 2 things:

1)its missing that surtain something that sends a screaming shiver down your back.

2)we are just getting older and don't want the music to change into where its going.

just a thought, anybody else got ideas as to why music doesn't "seem" as good as it was 5-6 years ago?

I didn't realize trance was around back then, I thought it started coming around in 95-96, which I guess is close to 10, but oh well, anybody got any interesting info about how trance came about?

It's basically missing the whole reason it was created - to be unique and innovative (that and something to twack out to on hallucinogens and other narcotics ).

Food for the mind, body, and spirit, everything is image these days.

damn true. trance is becoming really commercialized.. especially with the 'techno djs like dj sammy'.. alot more people are getting into it and in our eyes seem like posers, but sometimes we wish it was just the few who first were into it, none of this commercialized crap.

So true, and I hate it, one of the things that got me into Trance was, it had no image, there was no bullshit behind it, it was JUST ABOUT THE MUSIC, but it seems that is al changing now, makes me wonder, how long I will be with trance.

Stop listening to trance and start listening to prog.. Prog is the style of the future and it's really big at the moment with lots of new producers...

Trance heads converting to prog say that now...

Old skool prog heads are looking at it as the downfall of prog...

If you're looking for that really old-school trance sound, there's a mix in the amateur DJ section with tracks from early to mid 90s, it kicks ass.

As for prog, I find it a rather unimaginative name, and not very specific either. I mean in the 1940s people started saying progressive jazz as a means to show that their style was moving somwhere else, then later on progressive rock came around, same deal, etc...

And then we decide to name an entire genre after a word that's been used as a modifier....strange.
