Why I never fly in Canada

Round trip to Montreal at $2 comes out to $70 after taxes

In the US i can fly round trip regular price Buffalo to NYC (same distance) for $100 US including all taxes. Taxes and service fees there are only $15 in total.

No wonder Canada 3000 went tits up and Air Canada is in trouble.

Whenever i go overseas i drive to Buffalo. It usually saves me tonnes of cash

But by going to buffalo, you have to deal with all that border crossing shit, plus also pay to park your car or rent an airport taxi.

No thanks.

I agree that this deal is a fucking joke though. If it were to halifax or something, I'd be all over it...but Mtl...pffft.

Tell me about it. I drive to Buffalo all the time & catch flights from there. The airfare deals are 100x times better in the states. I used to have a friend who lived down the road from the airport, and once I left my car at her house while I was in Israel for 10 days. It was perfect (but then they moved ). Still, as long as its a short weekend trip, I don't mind the extra haul to save a wad of cash. Parking at the Buffalo airport is also not that expensive ($7-9 US/day).

It is pretty much the same thing as driving.

Rent a car for whatever and for gas there and back. I can't see that being less than 70 dollars for your trip plus parking and bullshit and possible speeding tickets. Flying is fast and gets you there with no hassles. What's the big deal that they add all that stuff to it. I mean you didn't really expect it to be 2 dollars, did you?

No, but u see Canada has a way of offering seat sales that are never the price they advertise. Example: my RT flight to Miami 1 year was $150 on sale. Total came to $310 after taxes. Still, a cheap fare, but when the taxes cost more than the airfare, something is really wrong...

Southwest Airlines used to offer $34 each way from Buffalo to Baltimore (a 9-10 hr drive otherwise). There was maybe $5 of extra charges added on. Nothing else. Fly home & back for under $70 US. Yes, I had to drive 1.75 hrs to get to the airport, but when u compare the cost of a direct flight from here to there....

why?

pay for what you get.

you get a fast no hassle trip to MTL. Unless they are beaming you there in 5 seconds, it takes money to run those planes and airports.

$70 is a good deal.. if that were regular price. What im upset about is that this is what you pay in taxes ALONE!

And as for the Buffalo option. You already have to deal with customs anyways. Also, its never that bad if you have a passport. Also long term parking at Buffalo airport is $44 US per week i believe. What is it at the new terminal in Toronto again? Oh yeah $75 per DAY.

As for gas, half a tank there and half a tank back.

When i go to argentina i usually save about $700 Canadian by flying buffalo and connecting in NYC when all is said and done.

Even to fly Toronto to NYC is almost $400 Canadian compared to $135 Canadian with jetblue from buffalo.

The left lane thing seems to be exclusive to Ontario.

Nowhere else in the world is this problem so bad nor do they let you get away with it. In Europe theyd either fine you or literally run u off the road!
