Removals of postcounts ?

Just an observation, but going along with all the threads in local forums, most of which have been shut down, would it not be an idea to have more forums without postcounts, if not all of them. I'll put the pros and con's i can think of then if others correct me or add more, will give us a good look at it

Pros

Less Elitism - no more 'tit' threads or people who barely post but have joined a long time ago calling other n00bs

+1 +0 etc - has been wearing very thin for a long long time

PPRs - Post Padding Rooms would become ineffective, spamming to gain custom status or whatver would become pointless, custom status maybe given to people after 1 year or something in that case

You are not your postcount - exactly, let people judge you by who you are, not how many times you can post, and by the quality not quantity of posts

Cons

Chill Out Room - COR can be a bit stupid at times, with it being non-counting, would other forums then become too off topicc and worthless ?

Implementation - How much work would it actually need to be done for Del to bring it into effect if it was voted in (tho maybe a poll would be an idea to get a general feeling on the matter)

Anyway thats what I can think of for now, thoughts ?

My opinion: simply ban and close the post padding rooms. Post counts aren't visible anyhow, and as such most people don't post whore - as you can't see someone's post count without clicking on their profile. That way we could avoid cutting off the post count tally for even more forums, but put a stop to most organized spam at the same time.

the problem is some local forums run by one moderator need such threads closing which haven't been done or take ages, and the mods abuse powers about them, the only way I could see for that problem would be for the universal mods - neo, jeff, blik etc to have the power to shut a thread of such nature in a local forum should they think it needs attn from a mod who isn't about or is flaunting the rules

That's the thing through, if there's an overly inactive mod, or a mod who's flaunting the rules - then perhaps they shouldn't be a mod. That's how it's done on most other forums, and it works fine. But yeah, I like the idea of someone like neo having the power to close threads - as long as Swamper approves of course.

I'm in agreement there, the only thing I'd say is that when threads turn +1 or whatever or spam, surely its more effort to shu a thread for a mod, than for it to be pointless anyway as +1 = nothing with the non-existence of a postcount like ?

I think neo's main problem is that he's too fair, people try & mess with him, but we all know he & others do a top job, the only thing then comes to if swamper would replace mods who aren't doing their jobs, but this wouldn't be so much a case if no posts counted, imho anyway
