Hi i made a track in fruity but it doesnt seem to have the professional quality. Ive used the fruity: flanger, filter, reverb, phaser and those are nice but the track quality doesnt sound like what artists make. Is there a way to make tracks fuller?

Also, is there a way to know how long (time) a track is in fruity without having to output to mp3?

Yeah, in the indicator in the top menubar. Click on it to change how it's displaying where you are in the song. Or just pick 'export to wav,' and it'll tell you in the options dialog.

Well i wouldn't say that mastering is what you need to make a track sound fuller. Something tends to be empty sounding because it is missing elements. If there is no bassline, then a track will sound empty, if there is a general lack of percussion or synths, it may sound empty. I believe that getting the full sound is a matter of filling up the frequency spectrum without obviously having too much because you then get muddiness.

If you could post a sample of your track, then I'm sure we would be able to determine what it is missing.

Adding a bunch of atmospheric effects like reverbed reverses, whooshes and synth stabs can often fill up a lot of empty space. Listen to some Steve Porter tunes to get a better idea of what I'm talking about.

Yeah ok cool. I love stuff by steve porter and matthew dekay. What do you mean by reverbed reverses?

Ive added different percussion stuff from the wav samples ive gathered. Im running about 49 of those horizontal lines in fruity and about 53 samples.

Take any sharp stab like sample, reverse it and add some reverb. You can often get some pretty good effects that way.

Your tune is sounding pretty nice, very chilled. The biggest thing it's lacking is percussive layers right now. You have a lot of cool sounds in it, you just need to back them up with some richer percussion sounds. Listen to the intro and outro of most steve porter tunes and try to dissect all the different percussive elements in them; if you can achieve half of what he's got going on then you'll be on the right track, hehe. The kick on this tune could use a little beefing up too, but otherwise quite cool.

cool thanks. Ill put some more percussive elements with reverb effects and try other effects too. I take a closer listen to steve's stuff too. thanks

what do you mean? like using them as atmosphere or little melodic phrases put in? Im having problems with note/melody crashes (is that the word?)

Layering is just as it sounds: Laying sounds on top of each other. Kinda like how chords are just layered notes, layering multiple sounds on top of one another will create for a broader frequency spectrum that you can hear.

this ones easy but it gets me every time,

in reason, hit the "fuller" button on the transport pannel

in fruity, edit/make fuller

in cubase, i think its somewhere in the menu(i dont know cus i dont use cubase) but its something like "convert track to professional quallity"
