Boo to telus...I dumpted them about a year ago after that screw up they had 2 years into my contract...i showed them the middle finger basically....and now i'm happy to report that i'm being successfully ripped off by rogers! YAY!

There is still no local number portability in Canada so this is how I suspect this is going to work:

get a fido phone and new number (if not a fido subscriber)

get free local calls 24/7

----------

IMO this is nothing more than a regular fido plan with unlimited local. Non fido customers will have to get new phone #s.

That is simple VOIP.

Vonage also has a product in Canada to compete.

I also tried it out this morning with a coworker from the states .. clear reception, no lag, worked beautifully.

Vonage eh? ..nice .competition is good.

Only problem w/ the VoIP setups that both primus and vonage have is that they give priority to the voice stream over the data stream.

It eats into your data upstream/downstream caps.

But then again any VOD w/ digital cable does the same...
