Ok.. starting off

The strings sound nice... but having heard that melody so many times already... It just got boring to me... However, I like how the drum kicks in.

The bass sounds decent except it could sound tighter. Try using a compressor with 3:1 ratio, threshold of -9.0 db, attack of 0.0 ms or as low as possible and a release of maybe 50 ms

The guitar you bring in has potential... but i feel that it rings too much losing a lot of the crisp making it muddy and cluttering up the mix.

Also, I noticed how you used a rolling bassline and a subbass... While, there is nothing wrong with either of them... The subbass is taking up frequencies around 50 hz and the rolling bass is taking around 400hz frequencies I'm guessing... There is just a gap from 50-400hz that could be filled up with another different bass to make the entire bassline sound even stronger IMO but use your own judgment i guess..

All in all, I found the remix to be pretty clean, decent production, although I just got kinda tired of the tune since i've heard so many versions of it already so I really didn't find it too original...

Good work!

Hi DRM!

I liked very much the buildup and bassline. But in generaly the song sounds too cheap. Specially the strings -> they sounds like default REASON orchestra string and Female UUH Choir. You need more layers on strings part and more effects. Maybe some synthstring. Try add delay effect to hihats and percussions -> gives more "rolling".

The guitar sound chord progression was perfect but still need more effects or layers. Remix has potential but you need work more!
Keep it up! Good work!

Hello!

there's no doubt that ur remix is more unique than a lot of the others out there but u've use3d the main melody on loop for 5 mins. that's a bit excessive IMO

plus
additional melodies
creative attempt

minus
the lead in the start
the lead could have been better
bass too messy
frequencies are a little bit out of hand

I may be a little harsh since I have remixed it my self

Thanks for the feedback guys

kewlness :

you are right about the basslines having a frequence gap on reflection and although it doesnt affect the remix too much i will watch out for that next time thanks.

sebraa :

I didnt use reason to make the remix so it aint the default reason sounds but maybe ur right about them sounding a little flat. i will work on my effects for things like that more next time. Glad u enjoyed the guitar chord progression as its pretty obvious that that was what i based the remix around

d-jay myth :

I never really thought about that but you are right it does loop for too long. maybe i'll resequence with a intro melody to cut down the amount of time its played

subtle :

i like that you appriciate my creativeness could you elaborate on the bass being messy and the freqencies out of hand pls only way i will improve

And now the other Rank one remix!

The introduction, well the build up I guess, when you’re building up the layers is spot on. Bass sounds quality here and the perc layers work well. The ‘plucked’ melody you have in the build up sounds a bit too tinny. Break beat and ‘guitar’ in the breakdown sounding good. There’s some resonance going in the lower mid/upper low end though during the main part of the tune. Pretty good though, brings something extra to the table!

thanks for the feedback spin ur right there is a lot of resonance or too much reverb going around from the guitar synth when it kicks in and while it adds to the sound its a little overpowering so i will sort that.

but im glad u liked it overall

The way I would describe this remix is as 'safe'. It uses thoroughly tried and tested ideas in trance and only separates itself from the original with some simple melodies sitting above the 'Airwave' pad chords.

All in all pretty good production, but the track itself didn't blow me away. It's too mechanical and not different enough.

Lol i think every trance producer and his dog have had a go at remixing this.

I will review the prodcution quality though

The lead @ the start, is that sampled? Sounds just like the lead from the original. Uh, i dont that like thing (noise) every second, use a clap or a snare man. The bass is good-ish, its needs a bit more low atm it dosent flow to well with the percs though. I like that sound thats building up in the background, but that synth stabbing here and there really is pointless, its annyoing Nice strings + atmos @ the breakdown. I think the main bit is a let down, i really dont like your choice of synths, but thats a matter of taste.

All in all its average, it could do with some work here and there!
