I doubt it would work very effectively. The only way I know of that you could effectively remove vocals from a track is by using other parts of the track that either includes the vocals only at the same texture as the vocals with the music or a section of the track that only includes the vocals.
I do think that it is possible to have such a device like the "vocal zapper" but it would require immense computing power for it to be able to tell what parts of the sound signal is the vocals and for it to remove it.
