Yep some people are just nasty! I got bullied all throughout school, it was supposed to be the 'best days of my life', but if that were the case I was in for a very shiity life. No wonder the Central Coast has one of the highest suicide rates in the state!

I do however believe that generally people are ok, and I am always willing to give people the benefit of the doubt, in doing this it gives some people a better faith in the world and hopefully they will no be so nasty to one another.

I am pretty much an optimist and lurving it!

where much is influenced of course, by our upbringing,
environment, events in the course of our lives. in terms of violence, a great deal has to do with power. feeling powerful, where ppl may have felt helpless in their childhood or life really. take rape for example. rarely is it about the sexual experience, its about the sense of dominance and control. something they lacked due to maybe being beat up as a child, or having a repressed upbringing.

i'm not condoning the behaviour, but the human psyche is a complicatd one. and i do believe it does have some cylic kind of reasoning.

Does this really happen? Purely random violence isn't as common as the news (particularly news like the Murdoch press) would have you believe. There is a statistic somewhere (not going to give a figure because I'd be making it up) that in a large majority of crimes, the perpetrator is already known to the victim.

As we all know, they're not proving anything. A lot of this really depends on what kind of fighting you're referring to. Do you mean fighting in the sense of nation vs nation, violence on the street, thug life, sibling rivalry? Different types of violence are caused by different sets of factors. By having a social hierachial system in this world, its only natural there would be violence and tension. By this i mean take australia for example. We seperate people because of their tax brackets. People are at different levels no one is the same, so naturally when this occurs you have violence and conflict.

Thats just my opinion. I hate violence with a passion, i avoid it with a passion and more often than not preach love rather than violence. Dont get me wrong though, sometimes all some people need is a good bashing to wake up.

i too am a definate hater of sensless violence.

it seems to me with particular reference to the idiot that police shot dead who was brandishing the two swords that people go about these techniques of holding and in his case obviously importing these weapons due to a desperate need of making money, or maybe mental deficiency, or both.

what i think sucks even more is that these police are being investigated by the ethical standards comission to see if they acted properly or not.

whilst it may not be said officially by police, people who go about acting this way are not needed or wanted in our society and are better of dead (imho).

violence = sense of control.

and power (amongst other things) is a natural human desire.

as a side note, many people are just mentally unstable. who is to blame? in many cases, the environment that they are raised in. for the philosphers amongst us - cause and effect.
