Do you run a third party IM manager, like Trillian? Since I know without the patch for Trilian, certain Windows programs will shutdown parts of Trillain.

If not, then no, there is not a virus that will close down AOL Chat when you open Media Player. That would be a waste of coding and time.

More then likely you have software conflict or resource conflict that causes that.
