Midi Keyboard Question

I have a Dell 4600C with Reason 2.5. I am looking for a Midi Keyboard that is fairly inexpensive that is compatible with a 4600c and works with Reason. Anyone have any suggestions for me or should I sell my Dell and get a new computer? If so, what is a good "producer's" brand? Thanks.

Hey man, do a search. There's tons of topics just like this. You'll find what you're looking for and more.

most work with USB so compatibility should be no problem

Just get a midi controller with USB. I use an Evolution controller and it works fine. They feel cheap but then again, they all feel cheap. Everyone will tell you that the one they have is good. Really, they all do the same job, you just need to find one within your price range. Edirol (part of Roland) are also quite popular choices.

Thanks for all of the help. Just one more question, for Edirol keyboards the site mentions a PC must contain certain USB controllers for the keyboard to be compatible. Am I able to download these drivers to comply with the Edirol keyboard?

if you're running windows Xp you won't even need to install any drivers for the MIDI controller when hooking up through USB.. but any other OS, they have the drivers for and it should come on an included disc...

Whats the benefit of these vs. a keyboard?
Those who have one, what made you decide?

a MIDI controller has no sounds on it.. whereas a keyboard has a synthesizer/sound banks built in..

a midi controller is for operating soft synths or rackmount synthesizers

Thanks Alanzo! After looking at other forums, I think I'm going to get the Radium 49 for Reason control. Cant beat the 150 price!

Thanks for the reply. I'd like to read opinions on the controllers as in why do you like 'em and what are the advantages vs. a keyboard. Or vice versa
Thks

get an M-Audio Oxygen 8. It's a two octave keyboard, I've got one, and so far it's worked out great for me.
