Ok i am selling a pair of brand new Denon's 3000 and some passed a comment on how the Pioneer CDJ 800's were so much better....

I think the 3000's are more pratical for the price for a couple reaons

1-pitch bend buttons on 3000
2-Reads Mp3's ...a nice bonus on 3000
3-cd text display....i forget if the 800's have that...i don't think so


so whats your opinions...we'd like to know

please only comment if u have experience on both units.

2. bleh, i'd rather have 4 cds with WAVs then 1 with MP3s (too much to keep track of)
3. if you're playing a song, you should know what it sounds like (eliminating the need for a text display)

Id argue the wheel is unnecessary when you have a small jog dial and bend buttons.
This is one thing that really pisses me off with the CDJ 1000s- retarded design omission.

cdj1000s are similar to cdj800s- so this thread goes for both really.

Pitch bend buttons on cd decks are very useful for speedy and accurate initial pitching too.
Even the new pioneer twin deck has a jog and bend buttons- for people who have been using cd players for years and are used to the bend buttons and can use them quickly and properly, the large wheels are a pain in the ass.
I severely fucked a mix on saturday- as the cdj 1000s were in instead of the twin deck pioneer- its just more unneeded effort and not as accurate using the wheel-i havent trainwrecked at work in years.

It is nothing like vinyl-i dont give a flying crap if anyone argues with me- this is my opinion. Takes twice as long to pitch with them, and having to wind the wheel backwards to slow it down is retarded. There is no feel to it. (youve started me off on one now lol)

Waveform display is useless if you know your records anyway, scratching is appallingly bad, also very difficult to do properly with a static platter.

Mp3s are shit on the denons- you cant cue point on them accurately and they skip. Also a fantastic way to promote downloading and playing illegal material- not to mention the fact MP3s sound shite on a club system.

This whole vinyl emulation thing is like designing a false leg for people who already have two fully functioning ones- totally pointless.

Therefore- i stand by my statement that cdj1000s/800s are utter wank and (still) the best cd player for club use is the Denon 2600F.

i normally dont agree with people that bash CDJ-800s/1000s, but at least this man knows something good when he sees it. 2600F is just sweet. i do prefer CDJs, but since those are out of the question to you, at least you know a good choice.

if you constantly find yourself riding back and forth between bpms that are right next to each other(for instance 4.3 and 4.4) throughout the whole mix, is that the problem with cd players?
Because, I have had this problem with dual cd decks like denons but less frequently with the pioneers or the s3000s

Oh i can use them- dont get me wrong.
I just dont like using them, and the amount of extra effort it takes to get the same result and given the choice, id rather use something else.

since you're winding the wheel backwards that suggests you had the thing in cdj mode, not vinyl emulation mode, which would probably explain why it was nothing like vinyl.

I love the pitch bend buttons on my s3000's..... if it's just a little off those buttons sure come in handy... and you can barely hear any bend when you use them...

This is one of the reasons I bought the 3000s over the cdj800s... Plus I like the feel of the spinning platter better and the layout of the sampler and loop functions better....

I record all my vinyl to cd so I can carry more tracks around and the CD text does come in handy when I'm looking for a track real quick...

The only thing I use the mp3 for is acapellas... I put all my acapellas on a few cds and keep one cd player loaded with 1 at all times...

I currently own an s3000 and a Pioneer cdj1000 MK2. Honestly, I absolutely hate the Denon...never use it. The moving platter is absolutely useless. I hate the Denon's cue functioning compared to the Pioneer's. The Denon has an extremely accurate pitch step up to a whopping 4%, and then after that you're left with a .1% step which just doesn't cut it. I hate the feel of the pitch slider on the Denon deck in comparison to the Pioneer... I'm also a bigger fan of the large jog wheel on the Pioneers as opposed to the diny little pitch bend buttons on the Denon. Pioneer all the way. if anyone wants to buy my Denon for $400 it's all yours. It's 3 months old and I never use it. lol
