The 808 as a drum machine is pretty worthless for the kick. It’s al the other percs which make this machine worth it. Kick doesn’t really sound like a kick at all, just a low end duuuuum. 909 is the way to go!

im fully aware of that mate,
as i said, i just wanna hear what the boys here can do with that basic 'duum' sound in the way of making a serious kick out of it.
cause im looking for something lowend like that.

In my experience, not much. I often tend to EQ out the bottom end, and put a heavy gain on the mid range to create some lower tom like perc sounds, but not really useful as a kick in it’s self.

don't get discouraged and never use teh 808 kick agai becasue of what they said. its totaly possible to use the 808 kick...you just have to use it right..I tend to use a bit of it layered with a 909 but i mostly love the 808 for a breakdown hit to progress into dropping my beats and get into the atmosphere and pads...but not always.
