Hi all! I got great responses on last week's movie review on "Monster" with Charlize Theron. This past week "Mystic River" was released on dvd, any opinions? I was blown away, but more the second time thru.

its a good movie, well done..however, i find it hard to watch Penn act at times, he looks like hes trying too hard...still a good story tho

One of my favourite movies last year for sure. The overall hopeless, desperate mood and the way it manifests in the various characters really made a big impression on me, much thanks to the stunning acting the film has (especially Tim Robbins is brilliant in his role). Only gripe for me would probably be that the film tries to touch a bit too many subjects in one go.
good points. i thought everyone in the film did phenominally, except for maybe kevin bacon and laura linney. they seemed to pretty much play the same character they play in every movie. the most tragic character in the movie is marcia gay harden's character. i felt so moved by her role and acting. i really appreciated how multi-faceted the movie was, and actually i enjoy when movies take on a lot of different subplots.
