humble beginnings

What program was your first?Describe how shitty your setup was when you first started.(or how shitty it is now if that is the case)

I started on mtv music generator 1 for playstation then upgraded to modplug tracker.Built a decent sound library and am now on a pentium 2 computer with fruity 4.1.

Im actually making decent music for how shitty my computer is but I would like to be able to use better synths.

I'm still in that 'humble beginnings' phase i guess, still got the same equipment i started with and i'm still using it,except now i know it inside and out and can make the music i want to make.I'm quite satisfied with my FL Studio and some VST's and don't intend on getting anything else until i feel limited by what i'm using now.

Don't need thousands of dollars in equipment to make good music my friend :-)

Dodgy Gateway computer, Acid Pro and loops I made in reason making techno mainly (because I didn't know how to make a melody in reason). Crappy computer speakers and inbuilt sound card. My mate reckons the best track I ever made was on that computer, so go figure.

These days, p4, virus, audiophile, tannoy reveal actives, Evo249c, Cubase SX, Atmospphere, ABL, z3ta+, other plugins and stuff.

Well I've been trying to figure out Fruity Loops V4.

I know exactly what I want to hear and have all these different sounds in my head, but I can't reproduce them properly. I think its because I just dont know enough about production yet. I'm not sure how you should structure the song properly etc. I really want to do it properly and I honestly think I can make something good. I've even gone as far as seeing how much vinyl cuttings will cost.

I've got my heart set on a production course that will teach Cubase and Reason. It's a quality course but quite expensive.

FastTracker during the 90s. I later switched to ModPlug Tracker and Octamed Tracker before leaving tracking for good.

i started somewhere in 95(?) on a P75mhz, 16mbram 1gig HD, (cant remember the soundcard) using the Ravers Revolution 3 cd, which had this program based on 'technomaker' to make a remix of a happy hardcore tune after that i 'upgraded' to magix music maker v1. used that for several years i guess. i still have a lenny d and an id&t sample cd somewhere with tons of gabber samples

now im using reason/soundforge/wavelab on a p3 450 (so the pc isnt that much better ) i finished my first complete track with reason in august 2002, which is still available for download on my site lol.
