Next big step, after Univ. graduation...

I'm 21 and I will be graduating next year with a bachelor's in spanish education and an associates in Music. So that means, the real world How the hell am I supposed to actually take care of my self? Health insurance, full on taxes, food, RENT, etc.. I'm freaked out! I'm going to end up homeless, or have to work so damn much that I will never have anytime to produce music or have a life.

I've been living in the u.s. most of my life, which is expen$ive, so I was thinking of moving back to latin america, or maybe canada. I loved vancouver b.c. when I visited! Is it cheaper to live there, jobs? I know there are a some TA's from vancouver... help my nerves simma' down.

I kind of felt the same way when I graduated, but you'll do fine. The education system is a little like prison. You get so used to routine, rules, and being told what to do, that it’s a shock to realize the rest of your life is up to you. Btw, you might want to go into teaching, a lot of schools are desparate for bi-lingual teachers.

maybe Montreal? I speak french too. I have been hearing that multilingual teachers are in high demand, but that is in the states. That is reassuring, though I really would like to get out of the country...

Mix your studies with an actual job, which will guarantee you a steady job when you graduate. This will also prevent you from a big shock when you finish studying and find that you have to start from zero. Besides, you'll earn money.

interesting article Tudo Beleza, it says "Canada ranked as an inexpensive country in which to live, with Toronto at 104th." Well, I think I am going to do some research into Vancouver, and possibly by this time next year I will be living there! I know the job I have now (job, not career) will transfer me. So I will at least have steady income untill I get a teaching job. We'll see... thanks for the replies!
