Latency problem?

Im using cubase & fruityloops rewired to produce. When i press play in cubase fruity always waits 1 sec before it starts recording. A friend of mine told me thats a latency problem. How do i fix it? Better soundcard? I have a audigy 2 now and How do i check my latency?

Sample of what it's like: http://www.t3lia.com/latency.mp3

hrrmm.. well if it was a latency problem, i don't believe it would do that when you render.. but make sure you are using the ASIO drivers on both programs.. also try turning down the audio buffer in FL Studio

What card are you using. I doesn't sound like a traditional latency problem but it may well be. As said above, make sure you are using the correct driver in Cubase and Fruity. It should be the "insert card name here" ASIO driver.
