cold night - scot project mix bassline help

Hey guyz,

I'm trying to get the compression settings right to get this sort'a bassline from thomas rubin - cold night (dj scot project mix) (right click and save as).. but i just can't get the compression settings right.. got the saw way going (pro-53) and getting close using waves c1-sc comp..

but just can't get it right.. anyone able to help me out here?

I don't understand why the compression is so important here in attaining a certain sound. I would have thought the more important issue would be the type of distortion used.

Or do you mean you want info in relation to ducking the bassline with the kick.

Dont think u really need to use compression here. Just mess about with the basslines envelope settings. What i would do is make it start at the same times as the kick and give it a volume (and filter if needed) attack of 2 or 3 steps, hold and/or decay of about 1 step.

nar, this i know is definatly done with compression.. there is a part @ the start of the track the makes it obvious..

Ok now ive listened closely and i think its a combination of sidechaining, some envelope work and compression, but its impossible to tell u exactly how to do this over the internet because of so many variables involved. U should post a sample of what uv got done so far.

i gotten closed....to that sound i have a compressor and i use the scream. Some distortion. . . . . . . Good luck
