MOTION NOTION FESTIVAL, Astral Projection, Tipper, Treavor... July 16 17 18, Alberta

THE 5TH MOTION NOTION FESTIVAL
July 16, 17, 18, 2004
Open-air, near Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
http://www.motionnotion.com
Please see the website for full details, pictures, music, map, etc.

Motion Notion has grown and matured into one of North America's premier
music festivals. Every summer, open-minded individuals come together to
experience and participate in a unique fusion of electronic music, art, and
camping at a splendid riverside park. You can enjoy relaxing afternoons by
the river with friends, go wild at night, and quite possibly become more in
touch with yourself and the universe by the time it's over.

After the response from last year you have to know this event is going to be
AMAZING! We are trembling in pleasant anticipation!! Just look who's
coming...

INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS

ASTRAL PROJECTION (Israel)
Tip World, Transient, Phonokol, Trust In Trance, Nova Tekk
http://www.astral-projection.com
melodic goa/psy-trance, live pa
The world's biggest psy-trance act!! With intense stage presence, five
platinum selling albums, numerous single releases, and dozens of cd
compilation inclusions Astral Projection holds superstar status along with
fellow trancers Hallucinogen, Infected Mushroom, Juno Reactor, and GMS.
Nobody delivers like these guys! Their unique style is melodic and uplifting
yet still hard driving and deeply detailed- cleverly running the line
between psychedelic, goa, and hard epic trance. Over the years, Astral
Projection has been instrumental to the expansion of the psychedelic-trance
music culture that originated from underground parties on the beaches of
Goa, India and has since encompassed the earth attracting what is probably
the most eclectic and devoted group of followers of all electronic music
genres. The psy-trance community accepts all peaceful people regardless of
race, religion, age, or beliefs. The global goa/psy-trance movement has
become a universal language and artistic platform from which to explore and
search for an understanding of the energy or spirit of which we are all
made.

DAVE TIPPER (UK)
Fuel Records, http://www.liquidinjuredhearing.com
nu-skool breakbeat
A heavy hitter in the realm of breakbeat, Tipper is easily afforded the same
degree of respect as Adam Freeland, Rennie Pilgrem, Hyper, or Icey. His
latest album entitled Holding Pattern is a 5.1 surround-sound bomb that is
the smoothest electro grinder shake-down on the planet. Bridging the gap and
pushing the limits of conventional music stereotypes, he always delivers an
astounding and experimentally-tweaked matrix of warped bass fury!! A must
see!

BLACK SUN EMPIRE (Netherlands)
Driving Insane LP Tour, BSE Recordings, http://www.blacksunempire.com
drum&bass, jungle
Black Sun Empire is a DJ/producer collective formed in 1997 by René Verdult,
Milan Heyboer and his younger brother Micha Heyboer after being influenced
by sounds from the darker drum&bass labels such as No U Turn, Prototype and
Virus. Their songs have been released on DSC14, and other labels, along with
their own BSE Recordings. The big news these days is their brand new
“Driving Insane” album released in March 2004, that is way ahead of its time
gaining excellent praise from many of the scene's biggest critics.

TREAVOR MOONTRIBE (Los Angeles)
http://www.moontribe.org
progressive, techno, psy-trance
If there is one word to describe Treavor as a DJ it is "versatile." While
most DJs are focused on one type of electronica, Treavor is known to make
the barriers between techno, trance, house and breaks seem non-existent
often fusing them into one set. Treavor has helped create over 100
gatherings over the past 8 years as one of the main organizers of Moontribe
and its famous full-moon desert gatherings outside of Los Angeles.

INTERGALACTIC FAERIE FUNK (San Diego)
http://www.galacticfunk.net
deep house- live band
Severe party mayhem! The Faerie Funk freak-show has played Ontario’s Om
Festival for the past six years, headlining the last two, and traveled
extensively, hippie-style, across North America playing as they go. Using a
bass guitar, vocals, keyboards, sequencers, samplers, drum machines, and
effects, they produce dark and groovy, melodic and spacey house weaving a
tapestry of sound which is beautiful yet spooky.

how long is their set anyway? It will make me really really happy if they get Guy Salama now Then this will trully be a once in a lifetime experience. Astral Projection will kick ass, but with Salama this will be the party of a lifetime!
