Unfortunately, the (Sony) MDR-V500DJ sucks just as completely as the rest of the MDR-VFLOPDJ line. I've listened to the MDR-V500DJ before, and it sounded harsh and thin. Even some $30 headphones sound better than the MDR-V500DJ, in my extensive experience. Not worth the $80 US price, I'm afraid.

Actually, $90 Canadian is more like $70 US nowadays. You see, the value of the US Dollar has fallen to its lowest point in 10 years.

Yep, I agree with that. $90 Canadian, as I said before, is *almost* the full $80 list price when converted into US Dollars.
Hey, wait... You're in Canada, eh? Then unless you spend way over $100 Canadian, you won't find much in the way of good-sounding headphones. The Sennheiser HD 280 Pro, for instance, if it's even officially available in Canada, will cost you about $200 Canadian. Converted to US Dollars, the legitimate Canadian resellers will charge you more than $150 US for that HD280. And that's not so good of a bargain, at that price.
