World court rules against Israeli barrier

http://www.cbc.ca/stories/2004/07/0...l_barrier040709

Take that zionist bitches!!!

This is just another indication that the international community condemns the oppressive actions of Israel.

Although Israel will ignore this, like they have every other human rights violation, it still sends out a powerful message.

Never will i sympathize with these state terrorists. Let them burn in hell.

The sad thing is that Isreal wont give a shit about this or what the UN says.
it is good to see that the world is paying more attention to isreal's actions, and are speaking up about it.

We can all sit here and applaud or criticise the circumstances and events of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict but at the end of the day it is not, Europe, UN or U.S (for those who don't seem to understand) that can solve this conflict it is the two main parties. No matter what is said at some European court, it will take negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis to end violence, suicide bombings, incursions, an end to settlements and a return to the 1967 borders. No outside party can do these things for either side unless they themselves are committed to it, and right now they are not, who's fault is that.

What is indeed illegal is the location of the barrier as opposed to the existence of it. It should follow borders that do not snake into settlements and Palestinian lands as well, this is indeed unfair. Sadly the Palestinians have done little to prevent its creation with the actions of suicide bombers, freedom fighters, whatever suits your fancy. Israel has been given a clear excuse for building the barrier.

The Israelis should build a wall to the rear of the Palestinians, then systematically clear the trash up to the wall. Anyone who doesn't like it can take up their complaints with the ineffective UN.

Bombers or not Israel obviously had plans of a perimeter wall years before 9/11. Something of that magnitude is not just made up at a whim and then weeks later it's started.

These things take time. Kind of like how it took years of planning to build the monorail here in NYC. And then to secure the capital and then actually build. It's not an overnight process.

Leave it to Cyrus to bring the PDF back to life.

Now to the topic. I think that if the fence is in Israeli land as defined by the prewar borders then I think it should be legal. To me its no different than someone building a fence in their property to keep the neighborhood hoodlums and dogs out.

However I've seen the route of the fence and parts around Jerusalem seem quite strange and are dipping into palestinian land quite a bit. I think the settlements should be removed and the fence as I stated earlier be in Israeli land on the border.

I fail to understand your point, my suggestion is that Israel can easily use the acts of suicide bombers as a rationale to build the fence. Suicide bombing is a tactic that has been in use for over the past decade plus in the Palestinian territories. I guess your suggestion is that Israel would have built a wall either way, this we will never know for sure however. Once Israel starts building the wall to enclose settlements and inevitably takes up Palestinian lands and thereby more hardship on the civilian population then the fence is wrong, it should follow a clear, distinct, Israeli border.

The individuals who are able to bring about a solution to this particular conflict deserves the highest praises because I don't see it happening in today's current conditions.

things have changed, in the nearly 40 years, since 1967. Even during the second camp david accord, lands were being swapped inside and outside of the '67 borders to the loss and gain of both sides.

Simplified post:
The wall was on the drawing board for years prior to it's being built and financing.

The way you made it look was as if any recent bombing would have brought this wall to fruition much sooner.

I think you mean "Suicide bombing is a tactic that has been in use for over the past decade more so in the Palestinian territories"

So is hostage taking but neither accomplish much besides loss of life or limb.

It will happen one day but always at a price to someone.
