Quick CPU question

sometimes when my computer loads it only sees half my CPU power and other times the whole deal. it really makes a difference.
going from 2 gig to 1 gig...
any ideas.

as in the BIOS displays it as 1ghz sometimes and 2ghz other times? Could it be that the BIOS is reverting to default settings because of a flat CMOS battery?

nope each time i go into bios everything is groovy,
but when my OS loads and i notice it going slower sometimes and i do a right click on my computer and properties.....

shows only half my power.
does this intermitently mind you.
just hate restarting a couple of times till waiting for everything to load correctly

XP? IF it's all good in the BIOS then that's weird.. are you sure that the computer is actually running slower when the OS is reporting a lower CPU speed? Could be that windows is just a tosser and the cpu is still running at 2ghz...

if it really is running like shit, then I could only figure that your BIOS is the one that's f*cking up, cos winXP doesn't have the power to change your CPU speed
