dilemma...

ok, i've started learning to to DJ (still a n00b), thx to julian(cryo) teaching me on his decks and cdjs..

i love doing it, but i need to practice all the time, but i dont want to buy a whole set up and take it down w/ me to fsu just to have it stolen out of my dorm or something..

should i go ahead anyway and risk it, wait til i have my own place, or i was thinking to keep up 'in the groove' so to speak, i could buy mixing software and try my hand at that ?

If you think there is a high risk of it being stolen, don't waste your money on low end DJ gear, buy Traktor or something and just train your ears with that, and get to know how music works, then save money and wait till you get a place.

Well I know that the dorms here have locks on each bedroom so that each students personal belongings are safe... However it may be different at FSU... maybe find out ahead of time how the dorms are setup... If they have a locking doors for each individual bedroom, then I would recommend getting your setup and taking it with you... if anything you will get laid more... If they do not have locking doors for the bedrooms then defineately wait and in the meantime get something that you can practice with until you are able to get your setup...

In-sure-ants. I dont know about where you live, but here you can get insurance very cheap for your stuff. My sis has all of her stuff in her dorm insured, and she paid some small annual fee.

danny just come over and mix until you have to leave for FSU

anyways this is kinda weird telling you on the boards cause i could just tell you in person but o well!

my opinion is that you should wait till you get an apt and just work with software for a bit maybe or even learn how to produce (so i can play your tracks heh) or maybe ill sell you my cdj 100s
