Si il y a un attentat avant les élections, cela augmente les chances de Bush d'être au pouvoir !

Alors en supposant que la menace soit réelle, ce serait épais en maudit de faire un attentat , bush resterait au pouvoir !

c'est ça que j'avais pensé...

alors ca prouve que al-qaeda ont comme seule idéologie la haine, ils sont aveugles...

même si c'est inexcusable, au moins si leur attentats avaient une signification...mais c'est seulement plus de haine, de frustration...le terrorisme ne peut jamais gagner car il n'a pas de fin, même pas d'orientation...

regardez en espagne comment le peuple a puni le parti populaire au pouvoir depuis 8 ans et qui était susceptible de briguer un 3eme mandat de suite ! ils ont élu un gouvernement socialiste tout ca parce que Aznar a menti en privilégiant d'abord la piste des separatistes basques de l'ETA !

aux USA un gouvernement reponsable et surtout COUPABLE de toutes les miséres au monde sévit en toute impunité , et on ne cherche meme pas a punir les coupables !

I think you saying the people voted aznar out because they thought he mistakenly blamed ETA
im not sure that was the real reason they voted Aznar out. I had friends in Madrid when the terrorist attack happened. It only happened a few days before the election and they felt the people were just fed up with the current government and in a rash brush of emotion and fear they associated the horrors of the attacks with their government's foreign policy decisions. I dont remember reading about any clear blame on the ETA when it happened nor did my friends mention much about that when i talked to them. I do remember there was alot of confusion and uncertainty for a while. Although you are definitely closer to spain than I am and may have heard or seen it differently.

The attacks in Spain were carried out absolutely brilliantly. They accomplished more than what the attackers could have dreamed of. Thats probably the reason terrorists would plan an attack leading up to the elections. They would hope to replicate the success they had in spain.

My opinion is that they would see a very different outcome in America. I think the government there would be better able to project the anger towards the terrorists. And since many of the democrats voted in favour of invading Iraq and many of the foreign policy decisions (and there is a much smaller disparity between left and right parties) it would be very difficult for them to point the
finger at the republicans and use it as a political weapon like it was in Spain.

As for the arguement that they want bush in power because it would boost recruitment, it seems awfully cynical. It would imply that they have no 'cause' whatsoever, that their only means of existance is to grow as an entity of terror and not as their version of a war for the Arab cause. I think their actions in Spain in some way disprove this. If they only wanted to foster hate to boost recruitment as suggested, they would have done nothing and left Aznar in power. Again thats just my opinion, i dont know alot about the terror organizations so you could very well be right.

i believe the president office pressed some medias to push forward the "ETA lead" in the news as opposed to the "muslim terrorism lead" so as to not harm the president's chance for an reelection.

this is documented and angered most spaniards.

joe, alqaeda pushes forward the muslim cause and not the arabic cause.

and yes it seems cynical, but al qaeda can put a face on american imperialism and sell it to the youth and it works. after all, bush is an arrogant sob and the hawks around him don't help at all.

perhaps it was and perhaps it did anger alot of Spaniards, but because many of the attacks in Spain in the past HAVE been caused by ETA, I believe ETA was one of the first thing in many peoples minds, inside and outside Spain. And again while i am sure it didnt hurt the left wing party, the win was SO convincing and one sided it is difficult for me to accept that an intentional leak like that would be enough for one to say that was the deciding factor in the election was the media push. Id say it was more the bombings themselves than the actual leaks. Again i don't live in spain so i don't know its just my opinion.
