Debating between Dual G4 or G5

I know you look at the subject title, and are like, WTF, go with the G5, but the thing is, I have used 0S 9 and tons of crazy plug ins with my iMac (g4) for such a long time. I am looking to upgrade... i want a dual processor, either a dual G4, or a dual g5. The g4 will come with os9 so i can work with Pro tools 6 and 5.2 togetgher and use my plug ins. But the G5 is very very beefy, can someone tell me if it is dual bootable (if it boots up in 0S 9?) If it does , i may be convicned to get the G5. thank you.

Can someone also tell me what they would do... I have an Mbox, comign off of an 800 mhz, 768 mg ram iMac. thansjk

Why not a dual g5? That would scream... If I were you I'd go on the apple site and check and see if the g5's can dual boot. I'm not so sure that they do that anymore. Either way, I would do some more research before you decide. Why don't you think about totally migrating to OS X?

Good luck,

now I'm no mac expert in any way but I'm pretty shure that the G5 can dual boot, why would apple ship a dual G5 with watercooling as their monster if it couldn't

I know for a fact that it *CAN* I'm just not so sure that it comes stock with os 9 installed in addition to X.

And the watercooling isn't *real* water cooling, it is merely just heatpiping, which actually is used in many small form factor pcs, and almost ALL laptops produced these days. Apple is just marketing it as a big deal.

lol, is it just heatpiping...that's what I call false marketing

heatpiping is almost a standard nowdays when you buy coolers for your processor, at least here in sweden...it's almost impossible to get a regular cooler nowdays

^ Diagram depicting heatpipe system.

Heatpipes often contain a liquid to conduct the heat, that is how they get away with calling it "liquid cooling". They really have backed off of the marketing of it though, they probably realized how stupid it was.

I don't know if it can or not but I a reason Apple would not support OS 9 with the G5 is because they really want everyone to migrate to OS X.

well at least that's a possitive thing, i¨t's a shame although that it isn't real watercooling...

would be perfect for a studio if it was, totally silent cooling

well anyway, back to the topic...if cou can afford it I say go for the dual G5, I'm not 100% shure on how it will work when it comes to the OS 9 vs. X issue but when my sisters bought their macs (G3 and G4) they got something called classic envireoment with X wich made it possible it run older programs on X.
