Question upgrading with more RAM, compatibilities?

here's the deal. my computer is a compaq evo, control panel tells me its a pentium 4 2.4GHz with 120 MB of RAM (120? isn't it supposed to be 128 heh). i figured out i need a lot more of RAM and was keen to get a piece of 512 MB.

by restarting computer and going to setup it tells me it's DDR. further investigation on compaq support cds tells me it's PC1600 200Mhz and for upgrading i should get compatible memory (though i'm not 100% sure that the memory i have has those specs, is there anyway i could check in properties or something?)

the problem is i've been searching for PC1600 200Mhz on portuguese online stores and none seem to have it! now i'm wondering what's compatible. would a PC3200 400Mhz do the trick as it's the double? i'm completely clueless on this and needing help

thanks

The ram is acutally 128MB, you most likely have an onboard video card that shares 8mb of ram. The problem is that HP and Compaq (which is pretty much the same company) are known to have custom specs so you HAVE to upgrade through them. but hopefully this link will get what you need : http://www.pricewatch.com/h/prc.aspx?i=33&a=2739&f=1
