Review: Sandy Rivera @ Boa
Holy basslines!!!
Have to admit that I was quite impressed with Sandy last night. I was expecting a vocally house set and instead I heard everything from deep, growling tunes..... upbeat jazzy numbers.... dark proggy stuff... and yes, some tunes with vocals as well!
His start was a lot move driving than I expected and the number of breakdowns sorta threw me for a while. I think I was also tired from the Chemistry party the night before and for a while there I considered calling it a night and leaving early. Thankfully I didn't as the middle dark proggy bit I absolutely adored and everything from "innocente" onwards kept me solidly on the dancefloor.
He finished at 7:30 after a memorable 5 hour journey. Only heard a few tunes from the closing dj (i.d. someone?) before calling it quits at 8.
Thanks once again Boa for a good night out!
-Tara.
p.s. one absolute stunner of a tune was dropped shortly after 6am, it was one part diva vocals, some deeeep undertones and a dirty double bassline. Insane!
