CD Decks

I have been looking for a CD deck the two obvious choices are the Pioneer CDJ-1000 mk2 and Technics SL-DZ1200 but I have just found the Numark CDX.

This looks great has anyone used one of these and can say if they are any good, it is cheaper in price also than the other two but which is the best.

At this point, the Pioneer cdj 1000 is still the best and safest purchase for quality and durability. Not to mention that is what is in every club, but the Numark may have a deck that is better than the pioneer but it hasn't been out long enough to prove itself. The same goes for the Technics, but I would say its not that good of a deck and so would others. So the choice is up to you...try them all out and see which one you like better.

I haven't tried the CDX yet, but so far I am very pleased with every Numark cd-player I have ever used.

Here's a list of the cd-players I have used:

Numark CDN-34
Numark CDN-88
Numark CDN-90
Numark CDN-30
Numark CDN-20
Numark CDN-25
Numark CDMP-33
Denon DN-2500 F

I have had no complaints about the Numarks, and I must honestly say I didn't like the Denon at all.

Numark has built some of the most user-friendly and reliable cd-players I know off, and I don't think the CDX will be any different.

Although I do agree with KiNeTiC ENeRgY, the Pioneer has proven itself in the past decade or so, and the Numark has yet to do so.

Ive used a couple of numarks and they were crap.

I and a lot of people still dont regard numark as professional grade equipment- still has a lot of proving to do, and they still insist on gimmicks and stuff.

Personally:
Technics SL-DZ1200
Pioneer CDj 1000/800
Wont go wrong with either of these.
Cant stand the cdj 1000 myself, but its still a damn good cd player.

All personal opinion of course.

Bottom line: try them all yourself and decide yourself

I agree with the Pioneer being tried and tested. It would be between the Numark and Pioneer but would love to know how the record feels and controls on the Numark, is it the same as a normal deck ?

Also the Numark has mp3 capability which is cool does the Pioneer support this ?

The technics deck is total crap... sounds like crap, functions like crap.... but looks cool as hell. Bad layout too witht the display in the middle taking up half the "record"

I just had a chance to use the Numark CDX and it works exactly like a turntable.... EXACLTY... I am very impressed with this player... Very user friendly (unlike the techs or denon) If I didn't just buy new cd players last year I would probably buy these. When I was in Guitar Center playing w/ the CDX, another customer thought I was scratching vinyl on it....I had to tell him it was a cd... (maybe I'll trade in my Denon's for these)

If you want what's in every club, get the Pioneer cdj's... They are great... Nothing to complain about at all with these...

If you want true vinyl feel, get the CDX...

If you want tons of options, like samplers, alpha track, etc... get the Denon S5000...

If you want to be cool and impress people but get an inferior piece of equiptment, get the Technics.

Also don't forget about the CDJ 800's or Denon S3000, you can save yourself some money if you choose one of these and get the same basic functions as the more expensive players.

Im not being a sheep at all.
Ive used numark stuff before- I dont regard it as professional standard equipment. Im in the position that i get to use a lot of pieces of equipment in a live situation, and that is in my personal and professional opinion.
I quite honestly dont give a crap if anyone else agrees with me, but coincidentally a lot DO agree with me.
I put numark in the same category as KAM, gemini etc
I had the misfortune of using a new numark mixer a while back ( regular mixer had blown a transformer and this was the only stand in mixer available on 10 mins notice), and the recent stuff does not seem to be vastly different from the old stuff.
Dont even get me started on their turntables....

There are a lot of factors to look into when buying eqiupment. Ultimately up to you to weigh up those factors.

Opinions were asked for. I aired mine. Just because someones opinion differs from the concensous, or is in some way negative, does not make it any more or less valid.
