f**k Paypal!

ummm...j/w, but has n e one else been absolutely bent over by Paypal? i just got raped, needless to say...bought a computer on ebay 2 months ago, the guy forgets to send the full amount of memory so he sends reimbursement for the loss. i got an email from paypal nearly 2 months later saying that I (!!!) owed them the amount of the cash he sent me through them. they said that he was using fraud account, and that the transaction was reversed, and now i owed Paypal. i email the seller, and he didnt know what they were talking about, but he sends me a check in the mail to take care of paypals claim, while he sorts things with his lawyer. when i had called paypal to inquire the amount owed, they stated that the money was fraud. i asked why i owed them the money, since i was the one receiving it, and one of the fraud victims, and they said its in teh user agreement. no other explanation. then i ask how exactly i was frauded, and they said the seller had been using a fraud account. i pointed out to them that the account from which i received the goods showed up as HIS account in the transaction history in the My Paypal area of their website. i asked if i could have the fraud victims' email address to find out exactly what was going on since paypal couldnt get their shit straight, and they give me the supposed Fraud-er's email address!!! wtf...i pointed it out to the guy, and he was speechless for a good 10 seconds...he then said again that the account was fraud, and that i was mistaken.?. i have had enough with this company, and am taking my experience to small claims so i can get the account back to good standing and cancel it.

i also found several websites dedicated to putting paypal out of business...very interesting indeed :P

I never use Paypal for amounts more than about $500.

I never buy things on eBay for more than about $500.

Paypal is fine for most small things. The rule to remember with e-bay is:

--<< Never spend what you can't afford to lose >>--

So my limit is about £100 or so.

A good tactic for EBaying is to only buy from merchants who will allow you to pick up goods. Most often, I find the things i want on EBay (Computer parts, car parts, etc) avaliable from local vendors who usually dont mind if you pick up the merchandise because:
a.) They get their cash fast
b.) They can get cash period
c.) No resposibility to pack the product, ship it, etc

Recently, some places have been adding on fees for this pick up service, but it is often significantly cheaper than shipping.

As for Paypal, I recommend paying for the inssurance if you ever do use it to pay for EBay items. If there are sites dedicated to putting Paypal out of business, I would love to see them (fine, Ill do the work myself and use Google.). Perhaps we should consider filing an anti-trust suit against PP/EB in a local court?

i sold a CD once on ebay, guy piad through paypal, i sent CD. 4 weeks later i recieve a goods not sent thing, and because the guy said he did not want recorded delivery inside the UK, i had no way of proving the disc was sent. the case stayed open for a monht or so, then because i couldnt contest the case, the guys money was automatically returned and pypal charged ME an additional £6/£7. Of course by the time the case was comming to a close i withdrew every penny fro the account. so the account is now in the red, and i changed the details to fake details and no longer use that account. its a fuckin disgrace to be honest. however there's no other better online payment system than paypal imo.

i swear .. we are all going to see the damn Paypal as a damn marketer's sham in 2005 ... i get hesitant everytime i buy something where a third party is involved, especially SOMETHING THAT DEALS WITH DIRECT ACCESS WITH YOUR BANK ACCOUNT .. !!!!!

i use Paypal and Ebay sometimes, but not very often.. i prefer either going to Amazon . i think they use Paypal also, but i never order anything over $100.. like the guy said before .. don't buy things that you cannot cover if it gets lost or stolen...
