HELP!! I need GREAT remixes for my radio show!

A friend and I have a time slot on our college radio station. We want to play electronic music, but our station only plays alt rock and hip hop.. I wish we could play some pure prog or trance, but that might be out of the question right away. We're trying to find as many good edm remixes/reworks of "mainstream" music as possible, no cheese.

ANY suggestions would be appreciated.

You should just play whatever you want and not have to worry if people recognize it as a remix of a popular song. I say this because I have my own trance show on my college radio station, and I play trance, prog, some techno, whatever. Every now and then I have people call in and thank me for playing electronic music. My show isn't the only electronic show, however there aren't many. And there certainly aren't any other radio stations in the area that have any electronic shows.

The philosophy of most college radio stations is to promote musical diversity. If every DJ on your station always plays rock and hip hop, then maybe by you playing whatever edm you want, you will encourage more people to have edm shows.

I understand what you're saying, but I'm not sure that we CAN play whatever we want... I'm just trying to have a backup plan. Anyway, it's not a huge deal, and thanks for the suggestions.

i used to have an EDM show on university radio, it was class
dont worry about it and play the best stuff you can get your hands on.

like most people said, university is about diversity and broadening your horizons, and I would be surprised if they banned you from
playing certain EDM. you will invariably discover new people who have the same tastes as you and they will end up being your friends which can only be a positive thing.

as far as EDM mixes of more mainstream tunes there are quite a few, though many are on the white label and might be difficult to locate. Failing that you can always try

Dave Matthews Band - Space Between (Tiesto Remix)
Depeche Mode - I Feel Loved (Danny Tenaglia Remix)
P Diddy - Lets Get Ill (Deep Dish Remix) -- dont like this one much tho
Tears For Fears - Shout (Skylark Remix)
Britney Spears - Breathe on Me (Holden Dub & Vocal) - available to legally download on James Holden's website
Justin Timberlake - Move Your Body (Sander Kleinenber Remix) - another legal download available on Sander K's website
Madonna - Ray of Light (Sasha's "Twilo" and "Ultraviolet" mixes)
Madonna - What if Feels like (Above & beyond mix) -- not very good imo
Kylie - Slow (Chemical Brothers Remix)
New Order - Blue Monday or any of its countless bootlegs always go donw well
Delerium/Sarah McLachlan - depends how mainstream you want to classify this but there's a lot of it thats quite good
Annie Lennox - Pavement Cracks (G & D mix if you can get it )
Dido - Stoned & Thank You (Deep Dish Mixes)
Linkin Park - Numb (Michael Feihstel Mixes) -- done by a german TA

There was a thread a while ago about progressive remakes of 80's tunes, here is the link you may find it useful:
http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...ressive+remakes

theres plenty others and if i think of them ill post later. this should get you started nicely

hope this helps

mike
