Question weird pitch situation...

the sun rose. twas a new day. i get over to my friend's house, power on his tech12mk2's, and his mixer and start to spin. all seemed normal, but after a few records later, we noticed something was not right.

not 1, but BOTH decks seem to be faster than they normally should be. they have taken their fair share of abuse, so the dots were not 100% static at 0%, now, they are just about the same as they used to be, only things seem to be going faster at 0%. we did a couple tests by playing records at 0% and listening to the mp3's at once, and the records sound faster.

the wierdest thing is, BOTH decks do it, almost equally. i didn't study the situation fully, but my friend says it seems to be approximately 1.5% faster. weird.

any thoughts? we both agree the pitch control must be outta sync.

either way, he's off to miami for a week and some, i get to keep his decks here at my house to have fun with, plus about 80 records

well, discuss, tell me what you think may be the issue...

I have a similar probleme with my table.

At 0% the center dots are very static they don't move at all.

THen it should be either -3.3% or 3.3% that the other row of dots right over the big one should be statics, they are statics at about 4 even 4.5 ( -4 or -4.5 )

And the last one is the upper row of dots at 6% well it more static at like 7%

How come the zero is okay but not the rest ??

And how do you fix that not that it anoying just that I'd like to know if it get any worse.

There is a way to solve that problem. I'm not sure about this, but if you turn over your SL1200, you should see a tiny screw with an arrow in 2 directions and + and - above it. That's the pitch correction screw. You feel the pitch is calibrated wrong upwards, you should take a screwdriver and turn the screw to the - side. Turn your TT around again and check if it's better now. Keep doing that untill you get the desired effect.

I'm not sure about the position of that screw on the SL1200, but it should be there. If it isn't, take a good look at your TT to see where it is located.

Hope I helped you solve your problem!
