I have a set of 2xPioneer CDJ-100s and DJM-300s (they are 2 years old). I am thinking about selling these CDJs and buy new decks. I can have one new Technics SL-1200MK2 with Shure Whitelabel cartridge if I sell my two CDJs. I am planning to buy the second deck later. I am doing it because of vinyl, it has better sound quality and it is more "magic" in it. What do you all think about it? Please give me your opinions.

this is a tough one really. i do prefere using my turntables over my cdj 100's. but the way things r going now, itlooks like djing will all be digital within five or so years. so getting turntables now may be a bit of a whaste of money. but then again, vinyl may still be going strong for years to come. its this question that has made me considering selling everything and getting some cdj 1000's.

i have nothing against the progression of dj'ing but i do fell it is important to keep vinyl alive.

if you're a local dj there's no excuse to play cd's really... if you're international then i can definately see using cd's.

i was at a party with sasha in june and he told me the real progression is gonna come in a couple years when all big clubs are outfitted with computers and really mindblowing shit will be possible

Yeah thats true. DJing with CDs is different from DJing with vinyls.

well, have you ever spun vinyl before? go over to a friend's, and give it a go, figure out what you like best.

making the technical transition will be quite easy, as if you've trained your ear by now to pitch records, all you'll have to learn is how to manipulate the vinyl, and pitch bend, which you could get the hang of quickly.

i dont think vinyl will ever completley die out
if u listen to critics vinyl shouldnt of been dead 10years ago but it aint its still here and i think clubbers prefer seeing vinyl being played to cds

Yep I did it already and I think DJing with vinyl is a lot better. Spinning vinyl gives me a feeling I am a real DJ.

Vinyl WILL eventually die out. In how much time who knows. With technologies such as final scratch and serano then the cds it will eventually all go digital. ones and zeros hate to say it. I love the feeling of a new vinyl in my hand and i was nieve to think it wouln't die out but it will. BUT not as soon as you think. I give it another 20 years before everything goes completley digital. There will be a transition period and fights ect ect about vinly vs but eventually technology will over come. So have fun with it while you can. l8z tempest

i dont have a problem with cds. hey, i use cds in my car and at home. but when i spin, i think cds are a little boring to play with. and music mostly comes out on vinyl. its kinda hard to find the songs you want on cd. unless you download it. and im sure the guy you r downloading from got the song through vinyl. so all i can say is, i cant see vinyl dying in the near future, and i cant see myself spinning only cds. and as long as there are people like me, vinyl will always be around :dj:

Seems we're straying from the thread topic a bit, but what the hell...I personally feel that vinyl wont totally die out, because there will always be collectors. I also think that turntabilists wont let vinyl die. However i do think that vinyl will become MUCH less popular on the EDM music side of things. Many big name djs are going totally digital, so cdjs are slowly being excepted.
