Just had my first setup !!!

I don't have picture yet cause nothing is install yet I just tried it on the corner of my desk lol.

I now have one sl-1200 mk2 technics and one DJM-500 mixer that I got off ebay.

Since I only have one turntable yet I plug my computer in one of the input on the mixer.

The only probleme I found was that the computer sound was very low and I had to put the gain at the maximum and even there it was not enough to reach the turntable so what I did is lower the turntable and then it worked but I was wondering why my computer was sending such a low signal.

I have a Creative Audigy 5.1 live. So I have 2 seperated channel on this card. Is it the sound card that is now enough powerfull or what ??

And I was scare to death by the crossfader I didn't know that if you assign channel 1 and 2 on the crossfader well 3 and 4 don't work so I was like NO !!! please work !!!

The other thing is that the turntable didn't have any dust cover. Do you think that it's really something important cause it like 50$ ( Canadian ) for one

Thanks for your answer

First, dust cover ain't a big thing, I never use mine.

As for your sound problem, have you checked your mixer settings in windows, goto Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices, then click on "Advanced", and make sure your "Wave" and "Volume Control" are set at a high volume, also make sure you got you PC plugged into a "Line In" at the back of a your DJ mixer, and that you have that channell selected to "Line In".

Info on how you have it setup right now would help, aswell as what DJ mixer you have.

Ok I have a Pioneer DJM-500.

And my setting are all at the higgest volume I can put. I tried all channel except the phono one. I think it must be the sound card that is really not powerfull.

You might want to check your audio on your computer in Windows. One possibility, given that you're using a sound card with multiple outputs, is that you're running your sound out of your "rear" outs on the sound card.

Depending on the 3D audio mode you have selected, this could possibly be why you're getting pretty low sound output, have you tried plugging in the cable that's running to your mixer into another jack on your sound card?

are you playing mp3s or wave files? if you are comparing the sound from mp3s to that of your vinyls, it will never come close no matter what sound card you get.

I think it must be the settings in the windows mixer then, I got an older Sound Blaster Live card, and I got it hooked up to one of my channells, and my gain is only set to about 1/3 the way, and its plenty loud enough to mix with vinyl, although I rarely do.

^same as prodigy child.
I use my laptop with its shitty included soundcard and never had a problem with volume.
So I vote for a software problem. Good luck

The setting in windows were set a 7.1 suround sound.
