Ok, I finally got my Mk5 tech's in. And I have a 60 dollar mixer. Sooooo I was considering upgrading. So im wondering with 500 dollars to spend. Should I go for A used DJM 500 to 600's? or Buy a Kaoss mixer. Im open for any suggestions.

yea a 600 would be a good choice if you can find one in that price range...might be tough though. The PCV 275 would also be a good buy, and you will have some cash left over for more vinyl

I'd also have to recommend that Vestax, either that or an Ecler Smac series mixer.

What you get should depend on what type of mixing you want to do. If you're going to be purely beatmatching, then the Vestax PCV-275 is definitely a good buy.

If you're going to be scratching some, then one mixer you could try out (which I have) is the Numark PPD-01. Some scratch DJs, however, have said that the crossfader is a little slippery, so I'd suggest you try it out before you buy it. Part of the deal w/ the PPD-01 is that it only has two channels, so you're limited a little bit there, but it does have complete eq cuts and some pretty cool effects that are linked to the crossfader. Good luck with whatever you end up getting.

with the 275 will scratching still be tolerable with the mixer. I would like to beat match and scratch with 1 mixer.

Well, the deal with the 275 is that none of the faders have a fader curve adjust, so you won't be able to close or open a channel using a tiny flick of the fingers. So really, it's not too practical as a scratch mixer. Also, the board has significantly more knobs and dials than a regular scratch mixer, so you're more liable to accidentally knock something while you're busy scratching. Basically, you could try scratching with it, but don't expect too much in the way of scratching capability. The best thing is to simply go to a store, have the people hook one up to a couple turntables, and have at it.

If you think you are going to end up getting serious about the mixing. I would recommend checking out a Xone 62 mixer rather than a Pioneer DJM 600.

The quality of sound output on the Xone is much much better than the Pioneer. Granted, it doesn't have all of the effects that the Pioneer does, but one would be better off buying the external Pioneer EFX 500 pad for those anyway.

You can find a Xone 62 mixer in the US for around 879$ if you check around.

the 275 is useless for scratching. But a VERY sweet mixer for mixing with!
