Armana - Ethereal - ABOVE & BEYOND MEETS ALPHAZONE

I did this one so I could enter something in the TA Unite 4 mix.. it's still under undecided status.. but it's a great track and I would like to share it with everyone else..

FEEDBACK IS WELCOME

Armana - Ethereal
Bitrate: 192kbps
Length: 6min 58sec

this is sort of a flutlicht, rank 1, or alphazone repeating and epic melody style track.. but some people are saying i screwed something up in the repetition but I can't really point it out exactly.. anyone care to comment on that?

maybe I was thinking wrong with the sub-melody and main melody principle? there really aren't any other elements in the track except for the sub-melody and the main melody..

Didn't like the synth playing during the buildup that fades in around 00:40. The kick needs to be phatter and punchier. The track needs more stereo width. Also, the main lead synth sounds really standard and Euro-ish. Sorry if this is too many negative comments, but I'm just being honest. Hope this helps.

Stan.

-background elements and percussion are just fine.
-stereo field seems fine to me, but could be used more elaborately.
-the fade-out b4 the breakdown is a tad too plain... maybe some fancy FX as it tones down.
-i think i hear piano in the breakdown too and in the melody.. make it a bit more loud and a tad less bright
-there's a underlying string that is a little thin, maybe give it some harmonic notes
-some of the lead synths need to be more powerful... not sure how to fix em
-the drone that sounds like a square wave somehow sounds cheesy
-the breakdown needs a bigger buildup.... it's got HUGE potential!
-bassline seems just fine, but needs a tad more low end
-the kick could be meatier in the low end too

Hey man, this song really rocks along. Great big epic sounds, good energy and drive. Good luck with the TA unite 4 mix, but remember - rejection is fun!

I think you have succeeded when it comes to mixing and equalizing. To me the bass seems to occupy the right spectre of frequencies, I wouldn't say it needs more sub. Kick, percussion and bass sounds were really good, but I didn't personally like the sound of that instrument fading in at around 0:40. But that's subjective. Then I would have liked the main part better if the piano had played a melody of its own, rather than playing the same as the main lead. I don't think those two come together that well, at least in my ears. Btw, what does that phased (?) FX-sound "consist of" that's played during e.g. the intro all from the beginning?

it was some neat percussion FX preset on my virus that I put through a filter.. you can get the same effect with a phased/filtered hi-hat and an underlying effect..

plus
I like the bass
I love percussions coming at: 00:34 (they are uber cool)
some cool FX going on
the lead doesnt so too bad..
the melody isnt bad either

minus
percussive intro is still tha thing
messed up build up..
those percussions arent enough..
u could make this a 1 takeoff tune..

conclusion
this is not bad tune, actually quite good.. the bass is ok and the lead synth is good too, there are descent effects.. although I think this track needs a longer build up.. more percussive stuff before the bass.. the hi hats were uber-cool, but that is just not enough... and yeah... nothing new about the lead theme...

7-/10

You got good production skill, but your track is one big large dull cliche of a trance tune. Experiment a bit, find your own sound, get inspiration from places other than your favourite artists.

ehm... more of a matter of taste actually.. but make a long intro and long outro with cool percussions.. building up to the one breakdown..
