High Demand Jobs

I remember reading a website or magazine a while ago that listed all the "in demand" jobs of today, 5 years from now, and 10 years from now.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

If so, could you point me in the right direction?

honestly those booklets are usually bunk

who knows what positions will be available??

who would have predicted that all the computer-based positions of today would exist?

I wouldnt use these things as a reference for building your life...things change so fast these days, you'll go to school for once thing, by the time you come out the demand will be over or shit will happen...it's really hard to predict IMO

I personally, dont really care for those jobs in demand things for the future. I mean, I looked at it on Canadian government website prior to choosing Electrical Engineering @ u of t a few years back... At the time the market for EE's was booming, and it said the future would be no different (not that thats the only reason i chose EE, but it certainly was a factor). WRONG. I mean, I consider myself very lucky to be a grad with the job i have now, many others i know are unemployed. Certain markets fluctuate a lot, so whats predicted in 5 to 10 years from now may not be accurate.

However, i cant remember where i was it last, but i remember seeing that in the near future (if not already), trades are becoming the jobs that are needed more & more. Plumbing, electricians, mechanics, tool &dye, etc, etc.

You want advice, do whatever you like. Try to find something you enjoy. If you love what you do you'll put much more time&effort in your work and you will achieve success and overcome obstacles (regarding work) easier.

Confused

do what you like.....there is nothing like getting up in the morning to go and do what you want to do...... On the other hand, you can get into a "demand job" where you are misreble everyday (this is hitting too close to home!!) and you try to get away from work by coming on to forums and giving people advise on what they should not be doing.....you see what I am getting at

Oh I know, but I just want to see if what I like will be in demand (according to them)

I'm not about to dictate the rest of my life on what's in demand.

Meh, you don't even wanna look. Getting your hopes up can't lead to anything good - at best, you'll be shrugging your shoulders when you do get a job, and at worst, you'll be crushed when you start to hate your program and find out later that the predictions were wrong (trust me I know this last one from experience ).

Learning how to create jobs is the only sure-fire way for financial success i can think of because you have the flexibility to take your business skills into whatever industry demands them and put them to use. And of course, 'sure-fire' only applies to people who have what it takes to succeed.

1) Doctor
2) Nursing

If you become either of those, you are guaranteed a job for the next 30-40 years.

Also maybe 'teaching'. As far as I understand there is a shortage of quality teachers these days.
