Volume @ Room 680 Sat 5th July w/ SoUpS & Chookie
Well its sunday night, and thus closing another chapter of a party weekend. Whilst it was a bitterly cold Saturday night in the town I call home, plans were made with Chookie when I discovered she was coming down for a weekender in Melbourne to head off for a night out on the town.
Beginning the night with a few bevvies at the Elephant and Wheelbarrow in the city, we got the chatting about things and then after about three or four drinks, decided to try our luck at Unify @ Two Floors up, as we go the word Narcism had arrived there with her posse.
Unify wasnt very busy at all, and after saying some hellos and listening to a few melodic prog tracks upstairs: (Namely: Probspot - Foreplay and Mark Otten - Tranquility (Markus Schulz Coldharbour Remix) we headed downstairs to say our goodbyes and waited until the end of: Marcus Schulz pres. Elevation - Clear Blue before heading off to our next destination, which was to be the taxi rank, at Flinders st.
Fu%K me dead it was freezing by then, and luckily the coming's on of our mangled state were upon us, which shutout the cold a bit, and made for some interesting conversation between us and some guy who was heading home to Ringwood.
Got to Room, where it was reasonably busy and the floor was rocking to prog. sounds.... Not too shabby, although we were hanging out for Strangis vs. Juleples at 04:30hrs. Andrew Padula was taking charge of the decks, and was playing some very nice tunes, and definately loving what he was doing, as he was very very animated behind those wheels.
From what I can remember, i think mark james jumped on at around 3am or so, but to be honest, ive got no idea, but his transformation from prog tunes to trance was just quite phenominal. A great middle set. During which we were chatting to Steve and Jules for a bit. No shows from Mangler and Muli who according to chookie was supposed to make an appearance.. weak
At 4:30 or so, it was set for Strangis vs. Julesples trance set, and boy did it deliver. So many top tunes, and all mixed really well.
Remembered tunes of the evening -
Scott Bond vs. Solarstone - 3rd Earth
Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes (Armin Van Buuren Universal Religion Remix)
Sander Van Dien - Terms
Signum - Come Around Again (Dub Mix)
Andy Hunter - Go (Antillas Remix)
DJ Tiesto - Flight 643 (Love's On Fire)
Active Sight - The Search For
Freedom (that tune sent us into a frenzy)
Agnelli & Nelson - Holding On To Nothing
DJ Tiesto feat BT - Love Comes Again (Mark Norman Remix)
[edit] - also played.
The Age of Love - Age of Love (Marco V Remix)
Paul Van Dyk - Crush
& Steve Finished with:
Armin Van Buuren feat. Ray Wilson - Yet Another Day (Hiver and Hammer Ground Control Remix)
needless to say, by 6:30 or whenever it all finished there werent many people going strong, but for about the last 30mins, myself and chookie basically got a private dancefloor playing, which was really good. Also our vocal duets during, 'As The Rush Comes', 'Yet Another Day' and 'Love Comes Again' and 'Holding On To Nothing' will go down in history as 'Fuk#N Disgraceful'
Photos to follow later when Chooka gets back home and can send them my way. Should be interesting
Great night had by all, and great to meet you chookie, and hopefully I was a suitable host for the evening.
ps - Im still bitter about that copy of Under The Sun
