And while one day viciously throwing down on his box Jack boldly declared "Let there be house!" And house music was born. I am the creator and this is my house and in my house there is only house music. But I am not so selfish because once you enter my house it then becomes our house and our house music and you see no one man owns house because house music is a universal language spoke and understood by all. You see, house is a feeling that no one can understand really unless you're deep into the vibe of house. House is an uncontrollable desire to jack your body and as I told you before this is our house and our house music. In every house you understand, there is a keeper and in this house the keeper is Jack.

What, doesnt Ipod have a search function ?! Thats silly.
If you have that amount of money, I'd surely go for a hdd based player. 256 MB is not enough, eventually you'll want More

Personal I have a Creative Nomad Zen NX 30GB, which is a very good player, and has good battery capacity of 14 hours.
Or, get yourself the Zen Touch (which I would) Destroy my old one, and get the other one for free

I've got one of those also. Sound quality is good, holds lots of music and is a nice overall player. Price recently dropped from $458 to $398 at canada computers.

With that budget, go either with an iPod or Nomad. Both have gigs of storage space, good battery times, etc.

The Nomad is cheaper, but the iPod still (IMO) has a superior user interface. And on devices like these, trust me user interface counts for A LOT.

Why don't you try them out in person? For that amount of money, you should definitely test play them.

What? You have to think about functionality. With a search function, how are you going to type in the search letters? A Portable keyboard? I certainly think not. You would either have to use the scroll wheel to select, ABC etc. Not time efficient. With the iPod i think they do it the best where you can organize it by rating, Artist (all controlable on the computer who is in the artist column), Album, Song, Genre and other ways.

iPods are now cheaper by 100 dollasr but if you hold out a month or two the 60 gig iPod will be released for 4xx dollars. If you have lots of music and DJ sets I would recommend doing this. Buf if you can't wait, go to your local apple store and try to get one of the remaining 3g 40 gig iPods. I got my friend the hook up with a brand new one for 269 now that the 4g iPods are out.

Why would you spend 269 for 256 megs, when you could spend 40 more dolalrs and get 20 GIGS. Doesn't seem cost efficient to me. With the kind of budget you have, test out a Hard Drive player instead of flash.

very time efficient if you actually have 20 gigs or more of songs, I get so many new songs daily I can't remember the entire names of all the tracks.
for example Habersham and Numinous - Leaving Tifton (Digital Witchcraft Remix)
I might only remember "digital witchcraft" or "tifton"

If I were you, I get one of those portable mp3 cd players, The reason, Having other mp3 players that require you to connect it to the computer just to transfer the files, Is just a hassle, Since from time to time you have to change your library of tracks on it due to its limited space, With an mp3 cd player, All you need to do is burn a cdr as a data cd with mp3 files in it, And then you'll be able to play that cd on the mp3 cd player, It reads it like an audio cd, Only, You will have 50 or more tunes on it depending on the size of the files.
