dont want to explain right now just go here

www.di.fm/edmguide/edmguide.html

Look on that website to hear the difference between trance and techno, you should be able to easily tell the difference. But dont take everything on that website literally, just listen to the tunes he has and make your own decision since the site itself is biased

Trance is something you "feel"
Techno is something you "hear"

Techno = Chris Leibeig, Carl Cox, Dave the Drummer, Richie Hawtin

Trance = Paul Van Dyk, Dj Tiesto, Armin VAn Buuren, Ferry Corsten

Pretty self explanatory if you listen to artists in those genres.

Everyone is different. If you are posting this on a trance forum, then your answer would be trance. it doesnt matter what is better as along as you like one or the other or both.

trance = more melodic, in different "parts" (breakdown, etc.)

techno = less melodic & very continuous (no breakdowns, etc.)

Not only that guide is accurate, but its
opinions are very valid.

As for which one is better, it depends... you have tribal techno, swedish techno and hard acid techno, which are good. You also have nrg as the nicest form of trance, along with hard acid trance and dark trance, which I also recommend.

Overall, I prefer techno, although nrg (not to confuse with that nu-nrg duo from Italy) keeps my faith on trance

I dont think ishkurs opinion are valid. Under Crap Trance -> Rank 1 - Airwave, System F - Exhale. And the Progressive House category needs major changes and additions. overall, the site does give a good generalization.
