A lot of people go on after have discovered trance to listen to a variety of genres such as progressive, breaks, drum and bass, and house. While many of these people fully progress out of liking trance, others still listen to it.

I don't understand people who go on about how there is a lack of good quality songs about. I like my progressive and breaks a great deal but these are a list of songs that rock my world from my trace tastes.

I think lots of people say that their tastes have moved bveyond trance because they think it makes them seem cooler. It seems to be fashionable these days to say you used to like trance and have now moved on to something else.

Either that or they never really liked trance and are using that excuse to convert others.

Most of my songs that go into my fave tunes section of my sig or prog or breaks, but i think there are plenty of quality songs about.

i thikn you are making a stereotype. why is there a need to be cool on the internet?
as for me, i listened to trance since 98, and 2 years ago started listening to breaks and last year prog. now i mainly listen to prog and breaks, and some trance. i just find progressive and breaks a lot more interesting than trance, although there are still a few good trance tunes out there for me.

Yes, "interesting" or the lack of it is most likely one point why many people have gone further away from today's trance. Most trance nowadays is just ASOT fluff style with zillion supersaws, unoriginal melodies, breakdowns buildups and typical kick drums drilling into your ears which has been done so many times before. I find the current style soo boring. Bring up some originality into trance again and i might start to fully like it again. Of course there are some exceptions but minority anyway in the huge grey masses of ASOT fluff.

And btw Billabong, plz try even know what you're listenin.. Alt+F4 is not a Magellan Project track even if it is the same guys. They are using an Alt+F4 alias on that track.

Sorry, i didn't mean to hurt your feelings. Nothing like that. The ID is just a result of always oh so kind world of mp3s. The artist issue has been discussed here when the track wasn't signed yet and straightened out by the duo themselves.

agreed almost 100%


but there's still loads of good trance released nowadays, it's just that most of it is just pure plain fluff crap! like the tunes you Billabong listed! just the kind of tunes i never liked!
but trance is still by far my fav genre and i mainly listen to trance! some other stuff on the side too like always though

I totally understand that, what annoys me are the masses who follow prog/breaks/house now cos it's seen as cooler music than trance and slag you off if you're not perfect like they believe themselves to be.

However for some of us, our evolution takes us through psy & techno and in cases back to the older sounds we used to love and perhaps forgot about a bit.

Trance as it is now is stale, as said before, 90% of tracks have breakdowns that are too simple, melodies that have not evolved and there seems to be too many people in it to try & get signed and make money rather than in the older days where there were quality people like Oliver Lieb, Ferry, Humate, Chakra etc etc making lots of good tunes

if people wanna know whats wrong with the genre today...go listen to ASOT or look at the new releases section...its all crap. every once in a while you'll get a tune that is good out of those places. this is what i got down as good from this year that i've listened to...you'll notice there isn't a bunch of ASOT crap in it because that stuff is wank... there are a couple...but those are the tracks that were actually half decent...
