Melting?

i was going through my records when i noticed one of em looked alittle funny, pulled it out of the sleeve and it turned out that it was somewhat bent at one end...

i bent it back some to see if i could straighten it out which worked some, it still plays fine, the only problem is that you can kind of hear the difference when the needle passes over the spot, even then theres no difference in the track only a slight scratchy sound in the background which isnt noticeable unless you are looking for it (and thru the headphones)

has the record melted some? it hasnt been left in any direct sunlight however it was in the trunk of my girlfriends car for the better part of a sunny day, i think the heat may have still gotten to it...

what do i do about this?? is the record completely fucked or is there a way to save it? ive tired keeping it flat under the weight of my other records...

i had purchased a record bag about 4weeks ago from hollywooddj.com but they kept having problems with shipping and whatnot and it just came in yesterday...

Don't ever buy from there again. They suck and take forever to complete your order. Horrible customer service to boot.

Very true. About two years ago when I first got into dj'ing, I placed an order for the Numark Battle Pak from them. Now, the package I ordered I believe was an older pak, with belt drive tables (back then I had no idea what to buy) and for some reason the package I got in the mail was the updates version of the Battle Pak which had direct drive tables and was about $100 or so more expensive than what I originally paid. I didn't complain or return the set, since they fucked up and send me better goods.

Then, last December when I started upgrading my Battle Pak, I went looking around for the Vestax PCV-275 mixer. Hollywooddj had it and so I placed another order to them. A week had passed and my order was on hold. I called down to their store in Cali to ask what the problem was and they said the mixer was not in stock and it would take another month to come in. This was after I was rudely disconnected on the phone by some Latina operator who couldn't speak english for shit. I ended up cancelling my order and luckily, they did just that. I was worried they might forget what I told them and charge my credit card sometime a month from now. Fortunately, that didn't happen and I ended up buying the mixer from www.pssl.com. They are an awesome company and shipping and customer service is top notch. For some reason though, they stopped carrying the PCV-275 shortly after I got mine from them.

Oh, and about the original topic, I don't think the record melted. I'm sure they can melt, but that would have to be under the most extreme conditions. The heat probably did get to it, as it seems like it might be warped. Many people would suggest putting records under a sheet of glass for awhile. I have no idea if that works since I've never tried it. You could try lightly heating it up again and bending it carefully back to the original shape, then blowing some cool air on it to retain the shape. A blowdryer works really well for this.

I think your records are fcuked, I left some of my records in my car once and the same thing happened. (never again)

Cars get really hot as you probably know and this is a no go place to leaave records I only left 5 records in there and they where warpped beyond repair.

There are ways of repairing warpped records but only if they are not too bad, I usually stick them at the bottom of the pile like you said but one of the best methods I have heard for really bad warps is too get 2 pieces of glass and clamp them together with the vinyl inbetween and expose them too some heat for a while. Bit far to go but if they are records you really like then it can't hurt too give it a try.

California. I highly recommend them, as I'm sure others who ordered from them would too. Same day shipping, free shipping on web orders over $200, and wonderful customer service. Hell, a PSSL rep. even phoned me a few times to ask how my equipment was. The prices are pretty good as well.
