No, in order to sidechain, you need a compressor that allows for the input of another signal. This is not possible in reason, fruity or cubase unfortunately. You can compress the kick and bass together to get a similar result but you won't be able to duck in reason.

ok, back to topic:
there's a way to 'emulate' sidechaining in Fruityloops. perhaps this works in Reason, too.
with a PeakController on the kickdrum you can control the gain of your bassline. on every kick the volume gets lowered and raised right after which makes your bassline 'duck'. but i don't know if Reason offers a similar device.

the scream device has some modulation inputs on its back though, perhaps those can be used if you yse the scream as a compressor?

Can someone give me a quick run down on what sidechaining is ?

even if it's possible in reason through wiring..

i wonder if the Reason compressor is strong enough for sidechaining.
