ok, i just downloaded SmartFTP. How would one set the FTP Client so that the files are accessable by means of a link on the internet?

well for one ya need a server, not a client :P

hey BSE! u got the wrong program... SmartFTP is for getting files, you'll need a server program to make YOUR files accesible to others (if thats what you are trying to do). if you have a good connection (ie T1) you can serve up a storm. I use Serv-U, its an easy program and free.

do a google search for "Serv-U" i'm too lazy to find the link but that will get you started. its very straightforward just add user names / passwords and pick the folders you want to share.
