Jonh '00' Fleming has converted to CD. Armin van Buuren and Ferry Corsten are about 90% CD.
It makes sense for the touring DJ, since they hardly ever paid for tracks to begin with. And obviously you dont need to worry about losing your tracks, you can just re-burn them.
For a local DJ from NA, its still better. If you happen to have a gig coming up and one of your favourite tunes was just released, you can simply purchase it and download it from an mp3 site for a couple bucks and you can play it that night. You dont have to order it, wait 2-3 weeks, and pay $15-20 after taxes and shipping. And also, some labels are not pressing some tracks to vinyl. The only way to get them is to buy the mp3. Some people say the sound quality is not as good, but its barely noticeable. Most sites offer a 320kbps bitrate on files.
And if you like an unsigned amateur production that someone posts here in the production section, you can just download it and burn it. It might never get signed, but you can still play it.
