cd players???

to the cd djs...do you find mixing on cd players to be as fun and enjoyable as vinyl??? (with the exception of the models that have the vinyl serface integrated into the design.)

I spin with both vinyl and cd's. I really enjoy the inexpensiveness of cd's by buying mp3s and then burning them. On the other hand, vinyl is such a smoother feel and more satisfying. I have the Technics CD decks so they imitate vinyl fairly well -- they also seem to be more exact with the pitch adjust (as in holding a pitch) than my turntables.

For me, its a toss up

i've got both, cd-players and turntables, TTs are more fun but i dont hate cds, they get the job done. vinyl definitely has a certain bit of something to it that makes it more fun though

if they really want to emulate vinyl they should program wow & flutter into the cd decks

i prefer using vinyl, i find it more satisfying to use and it usually sounds nicer. although cd decks have their moments of fun, for example on a sunday when you are trollied after a night out, its well fun to play with some bob marley with master tempo + fx units

I mix with both and I enjoy both but, in the end I think vinyl is more fun for me.

I guess it's more physically rewarding manipulating the vinyl and I like being able to see the breakdowns & build-ups. Although, I do experiment a bit more with CD's, such as teasing and throwing in a random sample here and there.

I would enjoy being able to collect vinyl, and spin it sooo much. Its just not an option right now though, seeing as i dont have a job. Cds get the job done, and then some. Infact if i could buy and play vinyl, i would still spin mostly cds. I would just like to collect vinyl really...

Well there's a few things that most advanced cd decks can do now that traditional vinyl turntables would be hardpressed to do (unless you have an attached sampler, effects pad, etc)... easy looping, cues, hot cues (basically jumping to any point on a track and playing from there), and probably a few other things I've forgotten.

Looping, especially, is a godsend (for me at least).

Having said that, I can totally see the lure in spinning vinyl. You can touch it, feel it, smell it... it's got a personality and a character that plain cd's unfortunately do not have. It's a purely sentimental thing though, IMO.

Again, it's down to preference.

I like picking up a record..placing it on the record player..winding it up...cueing it back and forth. I like the "warm" sound of vinyl.

theres no other feeling than that of a vinyl record.
